Stigma.
Some say that mental health challenges are a side effect of
the diaspora,
The result of longing for places we can no longer call home.
The silent killer of those who refuse to speak about it,
The reason why a life without mental health challenges is
foreign.
We are so afraid of the monsters inside,
That we hide them away, and pretend they don’t exist.
But no one ever won a battle by pretending it wasn’t
happening.
You cannot conquer an enemy that you refuse to fight.
